# OAuth is additive

> X OAuth unlocks self features — it must never block Free, BYOK, or agent x402.

# OAuth is additive only

**Rule:** Connecting X (OAuth) must **not** be required for Free mode, BYOK, or agent x402 report access.

OAuth unlocks **extra** capabilities for humans:

* Self profile and authenticated gathers
* Compose / publish
* Features that need user-context X scopes

It does **not** gate:

* Using Free shared credentials (when Free is on)
* Using your own Venice key
* Agent `GET /api/intel/list` and `/api/intel/reports` (menu or paid)

If something in the UI feels like “you must Connect X first” for basic Free/BYOK work, that is a bug — not the intended product rule.

## Agents

Agents never go through OAuth for the report SKU. Payment is x402 only on paid selects.
